FY27 · 1 October 2026 – 30 September 2027

Your year needs a flight plan.

Seven stages, about fifteen minutes. Start with what your life costs, work back to the API that pays for it, then decide how you’ll work. File it, and every time you sign in you’ll see exactly where you stand.

Why write it down. Specific, difficult goals beat “do your best” (Locke and Latham, 2002). Tracking your progress moves a goal further, and more when it is written down and shared: 138 experiments, nearly 20,000 people (Harkin and colleagues, 2016). That is what the Friday check-in is.

Your API goal and your progress against it go on the branch wall, in the race to finish first. Everything else in your plan — your budget, your income, your answers — is seen only by you, your unit manager and the branch manager. At the blastoff the big screen only shows that you’re GO.

Stage 1 of 7 · Your why

What is FY27 for?

Every number after this works for the answer you give here. Make it specific: a goal with a name on it gets done.

Stage 2 of 7 · Your budget

What does your life cost?

Monthly figures, in TT$. Round numbers are fine. Your API goal is built from this, so the honest number is the useful one.

Your business

What it costs you to do the work, every month.

Business costsWork phone, fuel to appointments, marketing, client gifts, licence

What helps

Money that already reaches this budget each month.

Tax and one big thing

So the income you aim for is what you keep.

Tax and NIS on your commissionYour effective rate, NIS included. Ask your accountant if you’re not sure; 0 leaves it out.
One big thing this yearA lump sum on top: the trip, the deposit, the car.

Stage 3 of 7 · Income to API

From income to API

Your budget sets the income. Renewals and bonuses cover part of it. First-year commission covers the rest, and API is what earns it.

Stage 4 of 7 · Your weekly engine

Build it from contacts

Apps don’t just happen. They come from fact finds, which come from appointments, which come from contacts. Set your own ratios and watch the week change.

The starting points come from Al Granum’s records, 25 years of one agency’s prospects: about 10 qualified people contacted for 3 fact finds and 1 new client. Existing clients buy far more often: better than 60% at a review. Your own numbers beat any default, and your Friday check-ins will show them within six to eight weeks.

Stage 5 of 7 · How you’ll work

Where the business comes from

Who you serve, where you find them, and the weekly rhythm that gets the numbers done.

Stage 6 of 7 · Plot the year

Four quarters, one year

Split your API across the quarters. Q1 runs October to December, and it has already started.
